Lupe Briones, age 72 of Altus, passed away Monday evening, January 2, 2017 at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton.
Lupe was born in Big Wells, Texas on August 26, 1944 to her parents Soccorro Mesa and Bridgida Maldonado Mesa. Lupe moved to Altus in 1976 and in March of 1980 she married Jose Briones in Vernon, Texas and they have enjoyed over 36 years of marriage together. Lupe worked for the Oklahoma Cotton Co-op in Altus from 1976 until 1986 but her most important job in life was taking great care of her family. She was a longtime member of the Templo Sinai Spanish Assembly of God in Altus where she was active in many capacities including the Church secretary/treasurer as well as fund raisers and teaching Sunday School. Lupe enjoyed cooking and baking, spoiling her grandkids, spending time with her family, and she loved her church and will be missed very much.
Preceded in death by her parents; her son Juan Luis Banda; one brother, Richard Perez; one sister, Delores Sanchez; two granddaughters, Anneleise and Lorena Reyna; one grandson, Robert Angel; Lupe is survived by her husband Jose of the home; her five children, Gilbert Banda and wife Shanna of Weatherford, Texas; Richard Banda of Ft. Worth; Gloria Banda of Altus; Leticia Sanchez and husband Tommy of Altus; and Patty Reyna and husband Jaime of Altus; two brothers, Robert Mesa and wife Cherry of Michigan; and Lorenzo Perez and wife Maryann of Olustee; two sisters, Mary Garcia of Olustee; and Celia Reyes and husband Armando of Altus; ten grandchildren, Veronica, Angelica, Magdelena, Carlos, Amanda, Diana, Emilio, Marsela, Eli, and Abigail; eight great grandchildren, Isaiah, Isaac, Elias, Jacoby, Lily, Kayleigh, Mya, and Abraham; as well as numerous other family members, nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Celebration of Life visitation services will be held at 6:00 pm, Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel in Altus.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, Friday, January 6, 2017 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel in Altus with interment following at Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory, Altus, Oklahoma.
