Guy Raymond Southall left this world on May 29, 2017 looking forward to meeting his Savior as well as a lot of friends and family that went before him. Guy was born in the Humphries community on May 5, 1935, to Lloyd and Esther Southall. He graduated from Altus High School in 1953 and went on to the University of Oklahoma where he married Lanita Marie Skinner on August 21, 1954.

He graduated with a geology degree from Oklahoma City University and took a position as a cartography research analyst with the U.S. Aeronautical Chart and Information Center in St. Louis, Missouri. In 1959 they moved back to Oklahoma to farm and raise cattle in the Humphries and Navajo communities. He was owner of Southall Ford Tractor for six years.

In 1969 he was awarded the Young Farmer of the Year by the Altus Jaycees. He served as one of the originators of the Jackson County Rural Water Company. He served on the Altus Chamber of Commerce board of directors and was superintendent of the Jackson County Free Fair as well as the Chamber of Commerce Spring Livestock Show and Sale; was a board member on the Chamber of Commerce Livestock Committee and a board member of the Southwest District Livestock Show in Carnegie. In 1977, then Gov. David Boren appointed Guy to the board of regents for WOSC.

Guy and Lanita were members of First Christian Church in Altus where he once served as a deacon and chairman of the church board. They attended the Vallecito Resort Non-Denominational Church at Lake Vallecito, Colorado, where they enjoyed spending their summers. He loved his family and spending time with his grandkids whether it was on the farm, fishing on the lake, or at the golf course.

Preceding Guy in death are his parents the late Lloyd and Esther Southall and his brother William 'Bill' Southall. Surviving him are his wife of 62 years, Lanita, of the home; daughter Lisa and husband Kelley Litsch, of Ransom Canyon, TX; daughter Sandy and husband Doug Major, Stillwater, OK; and sister-in-law Norma Southall of Altus, OK. He also leaves grandchildren: Katrina and Matt Ballentine, Phillip & Katy Major, Kurt Litsch, Sarah Major, Marc Major, and Guy Austin Major. He also leaves five great grandchildren; Rowyn, Noble and Griffin Ballentine and Merritt and Deacon Major.

A memorial service is planned for Lowell-Tims Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 2, 2017. A private family burial will be held prior to the service.
