Obituary for Guyon Monroe Norman
NORMAN
Guyon Monroe Norman, age 84, of Dodson, Texas passed away early Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at his home in Dodson.
Mr. Norman was born on August 11, 1926, in Arlie, Texas to Homer and Linnie (McCormick) Norman. After attending Arlie and Dodson Schools he began farming in the Dodson area and worked several years at the Davis Gin and for a short time for Lancer Mobil Homes in Childress. A farmer at heart, Guyon married the love of his life, Naomi "Kitten" Lee Hammons, on May 25, 1949, in Childress, Texas and they spent the next sixty-one wonderful years together before his death. Spending time with his family and friends was very important in his life, but he also loved the time he spent fishing and gardening.
Preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, Clinton, A.V., Billy Harold, Lyndall and Vernon, he is survived by his wife, Kitten, of the home; two daughters, Shirley Shelton and husband James of Clinton, Oklahoma and Brenda Prince and husband James of Amarillo, Texas; five grandchildren, Lori Keller and husband Rick, Leah Patton and husband Wayne, Guyon Prince, Ryann Lewis and Jessi Prince; four great grandchildren, Kiley Aguirre, Sara Bustos, Michael Moore and John E. Lewis; three great-great grandchildren, Julian Bustos, Ozlynn Bustos and Adam Bustos; one sister Elouise Seymore and many other relatives and friends.
Graveside services for Guyon Norman will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 28, 2011, at the Arlie, Texas Cemetery under the direction of Harmon County Funeral Home of Hollis.
