Obituary for Hal L. Grider
Hal L. Grider, age 76 longtime Altus attorney passed away Thursday, December 1, 2005 at Norman Regional Hospital. He was born December 2, 1929 to Hallie and Hugh Grider.
In 1945 Hal entered the United States Army, receiving his discharge in 1947. At that time he returned to high school and graduated in 1947. He entered the United States Navy in 1948 and was stationed aboard the USS Quincy. He was honorably discharged December 6, 1956.
On December 30, 1951 at the First Christian Church in Tucumcari, New Mexico Hal and Carolyn June McKenzie were united in marriage. She preceded him in death December 7, 1982. He later married Bonita Wright Ray in October 8, 2976.
Hal attended West Texas State University in 1959 and graduated from the University of Oklahoma Law School in 1962. He practiced in private law practice in Altus from 1962 until 2000. During that time, Hal served the citizens of Southwest Oklahoma as an assistant district attorney for twenty years while continuing his private practice.
Hal is survived by his on Victor Grider of Norman, Oklahoma; one brother John Grider of Edmond, Oklahoma, two sisters Rita Montrose of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Carolyn Russell of Dracut, Massachusetts; a brother-in-law
Miles Montrose of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
He is preceded in death by his parents Hugh and Hallie Grider, wife Carlyon Grider; brothers Quintin Grider, Cody Grider, Hugh Grider, Jr. amd a sister Gwen Beavers.
Funeral services for Hal L. Grider are scheduled for Tuesday, December 6, 2005 at 2:00 pm in the Lowell-Tims Chapel with Dr. Jeff Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Cemetery under the direction fo Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
