Obituary for Hardy Cooper LaRue
Hardy LaRue passed away January 21st, 2002, at the Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Hardy LaRue was born November 5th, 1924, in San Leon, Texas, to W.P. and Ettna (Hankins) LaRue. He joined the Air Force during WWII and served his country for over 23 years. While stationed in Mississippi, he met and married Flora Byrd on August 25, 1951. They were stationed in Florida, Texas, and Illinois before settling in Oklahoma in the 1950's. They resided in Burns Flat and Dill City areas until 1966 when they moved to Altus, Oklahoma, where they were finally able to put down roots. Hardy was a member of the Western Sams Traveling Club. He was the outreach leader for the Fellowship Sunday School class at the First Baptist Church. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and dominoes.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and survived by his wife, Flora LaRue of Altus; children, Doris and Jeff Frederick of Ada, Oklahoma, Bill and Carman LaRue of Wichita, Kansas and David and Susan LaRue of Owasso, Oklahoma; and his brother, Pat LaRue and wife Doris of Brookhaven, Mississippi. He is further survived by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Chris and Diana Frederick, Matthew and Elizabeth of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Jami and Shane LaRue of Wichita, Kansas and Andy and Ben LaRue of Owasso, Oklahoma.
