Harry Wagoner
Harry Jessie Wagoner, age 86 of Altus, passed away on Sunday evening, July 23, 2006 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Wagoner was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on May 22, 1920 to Jess and Nora (Lyles) Wagoner. He graduated from Ozark High School and served in the United States Navy during World War II. He married Addie Lois Barnes on March 21, 1940 in Lawton, OK and she preceded him in death in 1992. As a retail furniture and appliance salesman in the Altus area for many years, he worked at a number of locations where he met and served the public for many years.
Harry enjoyed dancing, fishing and all types of sports, especially when his children and grandchildren were participating. For many years, he never missed an American Legion Baseball game and on several occasions he took his family to the American Legion World Series. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family and friends.
Preceded in death by his wife, Lois; one brother Wilbur Wagoner and one son-in-law, Tommy Hughes, he is survived by three children, Denny Ray Wagoner of Lawton, Donna Hughes of Midwest City and Vicki Avant and husband Rodney Avant. Altus; eight grandchildren, Mike Wagoner and wife Janet, Altus, Kent Hughes, Midwest City, Scott Hughes of Midwest City, Brent Hughes and wife Stephanie of Springdale, Arkansas, Jamie Bass, of Mustang, Jenna Bass of Santa Rosa, California; Jeremy and Jacie Avant of Altus; seven great-grandchildren; a very special friend, Billie Kerdus and many nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
