Obituary for Hazel Inez Darby
Hazel Inez Darby, 95, of Altus, passed away at her home Wednesday, December 10, 2008.
Hazel was born January 1, 1913, in Duke, Oklahoma, to Frank and Eula (Evins) Marshall. She graduated from Duke High School in 1930 and later attended Southwestern State College for one year.
Hazel married H.R. "Tad" Darby September 2, 1934, in Hobart, Oklahoma. She worked as a bookkeeper at Darby's Furniture Store in Duke for over 60 years. She retired after the death of her husband Tad on July 19, 1996.
Hazel and Tad moved to Altus in the late 1960's. She was the founding member of the Duke Wednesday Club. Hazel was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Duke.
She is survived by one brother, Don Marshall of Altus; ten nephews, Matt Marshall, Luke Marshall, Frank Marshall, Rex Marshall,. Jon Darby, Robert "Bob" Darby, Ken Darby, Richard Darby, Gregory Glenn and Mark Glenn.
Her parents; her husband; one son, Steven Marshall Darby on March 1, 2001, and one brother, James "Speedy" Marshall, preceded her in death.
