Helen Katherine Roberts, age 90, of Altus, passed away Thursday afternoon, September 11, 2014, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital, in Altus.
Mrs. Roberts was born in Altus on December 19, 1923, to Ira and Mary (Fletcher) Gray. A graduate of Lincoln High School, in Altus, Helen later married Floyd Roberts and worked at Wilbarger General Hospital, in Vernon, as a nurse"s aide for many years. With her husband"s failing health, she quit to care for him prior to his death on November 17, 1985. In her spare time, Helen enjoyed coloring, working crossword puzzles and word searches.
Preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd; her son, Harold Joe Phillips; one brother, Ira Gray, Jr. and one sister, Claudie Mae Gould, she is survived by three special nieces, Claudine Yoseph of Oklahoma City, Barbara Green of Altus and Debora Lamberth of Oklahoma City; two special nephews, Earl Gould of Oklahoma City and Carl Gould of Oklahoma City; a very special friend, LaVerne Scoggins of Altus along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services for Helen Katherine Roberts will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, September 18, 2014, at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.
The family will greet friends on Wednesday, September 17, 2014, at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home from 6 until 7 p.m.
