Helen Louise (Presley) Pruett, age 96 of Mangum, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, October 22, 2016 at the Plantation Village Assisted Living in Altus, Oklahoma.
Louise was born in Reed, Oklahoma on March 25, 1920 to her parents Oscar Lee Presley and Mattie Maude (Redden) Presley. Growing up on the " section of land north of Reed, Helen attended Jaybuckle Schools and graduated Class of 1938 from Reed High School. A few years after high school Louise married the love of her life, William Hoyt Pruett on June 21, 1941 in Mangum and they enjoyed over 49 years of marriage together until Hoyt"s death in 1990. Through the years the family lived in Tipton, Oklahoma, Reed, Oklahoma, Oklahoma City, Lefors, Texas, Perryton, Texas, Big Spring, Texas, and finally in Mangum all along the way working at the local grocery stores including; Presley"s Grocery in Reed, Florence Grocery in Lefors, Ideal Grocery in Perryton, the Safeway in Big Spring, and at Venable"s Dry Goods in Mangum. Louise was a longtime member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Mangum where she served on the Kitchen Committee and in her spare time she enjoyed sewing, quilting, and crocheting, working in her flower and vegetable garden, and canning and freezing, watching her Dallas Cowboys, OU Football and OU boys and girls Basketball, the Oklahoma City Thunder, and watching Dancing with the Stars.
Louise was the last aunt on both the Presley and Pruett sides of the family and she is preceded in death by her husband Hoyt; her parents; her three brothers, Spencer Presley, Willard Presley, and O.L. Presley, Jr.; her two sisters Stella Yarbrough; and Doyce Parker; and a niece Barbara Ann Shoopman.
She is survived by her son Larry Pruett of Mangum; and her daughter Lougene Johnston and husband Gene of Grapevine, Texas; three grandchildren, Matt Pruett and wife Lindsey of Leedy, Oklahoma; Shelli Pruett of Stillwater, Oklahoma; and Macie Green of Grapevine, Texas; six great grandchildren, Parker Pruett, Presley Pruett, Kinley Pruett, Hazen Pruett, Katelyn Pruett, and Keeli Cope, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, other family members and many friends.
The family of Louise Pruett will receive friends at visitation from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Greer Funeral Home in Mangum.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Trinity Baptist Church with Brother David Stewart officiating.
Private interment will take place at Roselawn Cemetery in Mangum under the direction of Greer Funeral Home, Mangum.
