Obituary for Henry B. "Bob" Haynie
Henry Bruce "Bob" Haynie, Jr. was born on October 29, 1923 to Henry Bruce and Annie Dora Haynie at Garvin, Oklahoma. He graduated at Mannsville High School in 1941. He married Betty Sue (Coe) Haynie October 31, 1946. Betty and he were married for 55 years when she preceded him in 2002. They had three children of the marriage, a surviving son Tim Haynie of Altus, Oklahoma and a surviving daughter, Brenda Dailey of Norman, Oklahoma. His son, Brent Haynie preceded him in death in 1989. HE is survived by three grandchildren, Sara Polston of Norman, Oklahoma; Christopher Daily of Norman, Oklahoma and Taylor Huey of Victoria, Texas.
He is survived by his brother Harold Haynie and his wife Betty of Newcastle, Oklahoma. HE is also survived by his sister, Margaret Olson of Modesto, California; his sister, Joyce and her husband Rob Ritter of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and one sister-in-law, Patsy Dial of Garland, Texas. His brother, Clovis Haynie, sister, Mabel Barnes and sister, Elizabeth Linville, preceded him in death.
He served in the Army during WWII in the 94th Division under General George S. Patton's 3rd Army from August 1944 - July 1946 in the European Theater. HE was awarded two (2) Bronze Star Medals for heroic achievements in the Battle of the Bulge. He attended Southwest Oklahoma State University briefly and he operated and owned the Jackson County Credit Bureau and the Retail Merchants Association of Altus, Oklahoma for the past 54 years. He lectured about credit to students from grade school to college levels, to business and national trade organizations, civic clubs, the underprivileged and pre-released prison inmates. HE wrote and published a consumer manual for sensible credit use entitled "Will This Be Cash of Charge" in 1975. He received the District Governor's Citation for 54 years membership in Rotary Club. He was a past president of the Altus Rotary Club in 1965-1966. He was president of the Oklahoma Collections Association 1971-1972. He was president of the Associated Credit Bureaus of Oklahoma 1973-1974.
He lived in Altus, Oklahoma for the past 60 years or so and had many friends, and associations here. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Altus.
Services will be Friday, May 30, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Rev David Player officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
The family of Bob Haynie will greet friends Thursday, May 29, 2008 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
