Obituary for Henry Lee Goodin
Henry Goodin was born on June 6, 1940 in Dr. Crow's office in Olustee, Oklahoma to Charlie and Nora Goodin of Eldorado, Oklahoma.
Henry passed away on July 22. 2024 in Weatherford, Texas at the Peach Tree Nursing and Memory Care Facility.
Henry attended the Eldorado school until 1953 when the family moved back to Walters, Oklahoma. Then in 1959, the family moved back to Eldorado. Henry worked for Lloyd Thomason for several years during wheat harvest from here to Canada. On March 17th of 1963, Henry married the love of his life, Mary Jane Harris. A short time later they moved to Scott City, Kansas, where Henry worked on a feed lot.
While there, in June of 1963, the U.S. Government wanted him to come work for them. Henry enlisted in the United States Army and served in Korea for about a year. Henry returned to the states and finished out the remainder of his time in Texas and at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, where he was discharged. He moved his family to Fort Worth, Texas and he worked for a steel company until he got a call from Buddy Dehtan about going to work for Esco Elevators. Henry worked installing elevators until his retirement in July of 1995. Henry and Mary moved back to Eldorado to enjoy his retirement, but he didn't stay retired long. He and his brother, Jimmie, would do all kinds of work for the people of Eldorado. He also took care of the Eldorado and Antioch Cemeteries. Henry worked with others to get funding for the Veteran's memorial that is at the cemetery. He did all of this until his body couldn't do no more.
Henry moved to Springtown, Texas to live with his daughter and her family. As his dementia worsened, Henry had to move to a memory care facility until his passing. To the union of Henry and Mary were three children, Eddie Wayne, Michael Wayne, and Melissa Kay.
Henry is survived by his son, Eddie, his children, Anthony Goodin, Troy Goodin, and Traciann Goodin, and his three grandchildren, Justin, Jacoby, and Carrie Ann; a daughter, Melissa and her husband, Gary Sill, and grandson, Jaden Pond; brothers, Jimmie Goodin and Richard Goodin; sister, Reba Barclay; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary, and their son, Michael Wayne.
A come and go visitation will be 11:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 25, 2024 at Lowell - Tims Funeral Home, Eldorado, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2024 at the First Baptist Church of Eldorado. Interment to follow at Eldorado Cemetery, Eldorado, Oklahoma.
