Obituary for Herman Wayne Buckner
Herman Wayne Buckner, age 75, passed away early Friday morning at the Veteran's Home in Clinton, Oklahoma. Services were held on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the Lowell Memorial Chapel, officiated by The reverend Carl McCoy and The Reverend Arol Steverson. Burial will be in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell Funeral Home.
Buckner was born April 5th, 1913 at Reed, Oklahoma. He was the son of Bob and Lottie Buckner. He married Mary Aday on May 11, 1945 at Carlsbad, NM. He was a Veteran of World War II serving with the Medical Corps in Italy. After the war he moved to California, moving to Altus in 1973 after retirement from Civil Service. Mary preceded him in death on October 1, 1983. He married Clarette Cotton on June 25, 1984 in Altus. He worked at Jackson County Memorial Hospital for a time and later at Jiggs Egg Farm after moving to Cordell.
Survivors include: his wife, Clarette Buckner of the home; one brother, Sherman Buckner of Seminole, OK; two sisters, Constance Whisler of Chelsea, OK and Madora Hilley of Mangum, OK; two stepsons, Irving Cotton of Cordell and Emory Cotton of Bethany; two stepdaughters, Trellis Morris of Richmond, VA and Cheryl Bastion of Oklahoma City, OK; three sister-in-laws, Loette Buckner of Seminole, OK, Dorothy Aday of Cordell and Edna Roberts of Altus, OK; four brothers-in-law, George Ada of Cordell, Red Aday of Hennessey, OK, Revis Wright of Dallas, TX and Bob Hilley of Mangum, OK; along with several nieces and nephews.
