Herschal Crow Sr.


Herschal; H. Crow was born November 7, 1898 in Clarksville, Georgia. He died June 10, 1991 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Mr. Crow and his family and his family came to Oklahoma in the fall of 1910. He was the son of D.H. and Cordelia Jane Crow. He attended the Olustee and Altus School Systems . He was a graduate of Altus High School in 1929. He married Nova Inez Hensley in May of 1922 and she preceded him in death in 1977. Herschal and Nova had one son Herschal Crow Jr. who resides in Altus. He married Lona Schroeder Riley October 10, 1980 in Altus, Oklahoma. Mr. Crow was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Altus and of his community. He was a 32nd Degree Mason where he had held several officies, he was a member of the Altus Jackson County Hall of Fame, and a member of the Farm Bureau Board. He had farmed in the Jackson County Area until his retirement.

Services are scheduled for 11 am Wednesday June 12, 1991 at the First Baptist Church of Altus with The Rev. Keith Wiginton officiating. Interment will be in the Victory Cemetery with Masonic Rites. Lowell-Tims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Crow is survived by his wife Lona Crow of Altus, Oklahoma; son, Herschal Crow Jr. and wife Betty of Altus, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, George David Thomas Crow of Dallas. Texas; M. Carter Crow, Dallas, Texas.

Mr. Crow was preceded in death by his mother and father; brother, Carter Calvin Crow, February 18, 1988, wife Nova Inez Hensley.
