Obituary for Hesker L. Lankford
Hesker L. Lankford, longtime resident of Duke and Jackson County, died January 3, 1994 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. He was born November 22nd, 1895 at Smith County, Itasca, Texas, to William and Altha Lankford. He had been a resident of Duke and Jackson County since 1907. He married Jessie Fagan January 3, 1923 in Chapel Hill, TN. He was a veteran of World War I, having served in the U.S. Army. He was the oldest surviving member of both WOW and the American Legion in both Jackson and Greer counties. He had been a member of the Woodmen of the World since he was a young boy. He was a member of the Duke Church of Christ and had farmed most of his life.

Services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Wednesday, at the Duke Church of Christ with David Lovejoy and Ardron Hinton officiating. Burial will be in the Prairie Hill Cemetery under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home.

Survivors include: his wife, Jessie Lankford of the home in Duke; two children, Edwin Dwayne Lankford of Lawton, OK and Reva Joan Owen of Reno, NV; three sisters, Eula Kenmore and Beulah Lanford both of Altus, Oklahoma, and Willie (Bill) Zimmerman of Hollis, OK; five grandchildren, Randy Keith, Ivin Roger, Reva Nadine, Pamela Ann and Michael Wayne.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers and sister, Chester, Marvin, Eunice, Lester, Gladys, Myrtice; a granddaughter, Carmen MeChel.
