Hugh Enfield Watson, Sr., age 78, of Altus, passed away early Thursday, April 12, 2007, at Willow Park Health Care Center in Lawton.

Mr. Watson was born on December 5, 1928, at South Bend Indiana to Robert E. and Dell (Shaw) Watson. Moving to Altus in 1968, from Vietnam, he met and married Marion Sue Canada on May 2, 1969, at the Altus Air Force Base Chapel. Later in that same year, they moved to Germany while Hugh was still in the United States Air Force. Leaving Germany, they moved to Minot, North Dakota in 1972, and finally retired on March 1, 1974. Following Air Force retirement, Glasgow, Montana became home for the Watson's where Hugh was employed at an Air Force Base working with their fuels system. In 1976, they moved back to Altus where Hugh was employed by Brewers for a short time and later took a job with the City of Altus that lasted until his retirement in 1996. Hugh was a proud member of the Altus Masonic Lodge # 62, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Korean War Vets and the Vietnam War Vets.

Preceded in death by his parents; one son, Dwight Richard Watson in 1982;
one brother, Robert J. Watson and two sisters, Velva Costa and Donna Seaver, he is survived by his wife, Marion Sue Watson, of the home; four children, Hugh E. Watson, Jr., and wife Gail of Santa Fe, Texas, Charles E. Watson and wife Vickie of Abilene, Texas, Mary Ardella Watson of Abilene, Texas and Kimberly R. Curtis and husband Brooke of Bethany, Oklahoma; one brother, Fred Myers of Montgomery, Alabama; one brother-in-law, Michael Canada of Altus; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Hugh Watson will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, April 16, 2007, at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Bobby Laws officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.

The family will greet friends on Sunday, April 15, 2007, from 4 until 5:30 p.m. at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
