Obituary for Ileta Marie Autry
Ileta Marie Autry, 86, lifelong resident of Altus, passed away Thursday, August 25, 2011.
Ileta was born May 12, 1925 in Headrick, Oklahoma to Edd and Johnnie R. (McCoy) Marple. She graduated from Headrick High School and married O.H. "Buck" Anderson. He preceded her in death. She married Lester Autry June 9, 1995 in Altus, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Autry had a long career with Civil Service beginning in 1944 as a Teletype Operator and ending with her retirement January 3, 1986 as Budget Technician. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Altus where she was a faithful supporter of the Prayer Ministry. Ileta loved life and enjoyed her family and friends. She loved to play Texas 42 with whomever she could challenge.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, Buck Anderson; step-son, Leroy Anderson; brothers Bud Marple and Dean Marple, and sister, Balma Tobola. She is lovingly survived by her husband, Lester Autry of the home in Altus; one step-daughter-in-law, Pat Anderson, Oklahoma City, one step-son, Michael Autry and his wife, Jan of Pineville, LA; grandsons, Michael Autry Jr. and wife Jennifer of Columbia, SC; Mike Anderson, Oklahoma City, Gary Anderson, Okahoma City, granddaughter Sherri Anderson, Oklahoma City; her sister, Jean Nordeen of Lawton, Ok; and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 1:00 pm Monday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Moore officiating. Interment will follow in the Altus City Cemetery with Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive guests from 2:00 until 4:00 pm Sunday at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. The family suggests that memorials can be made in Ileta Autry's name to the Prayer Ministry at First Baptist Church or the charity of your choice.
