Obituary for Ivan Roberson
Ivan Roberson, 84, passed away on March 28, 2005, at Epworth Villa Retirement Community in Oklahoma City.

He was born on November 19, 1920, in Duke, Oklahoma. " Shorty" graduated from Duke High School in May 1938. He attended Murray State College, Mangum Junior College and Southwestern State College in Weatherford.

When world War II began, Ivan joined the US Navy as a Seaman First Class aboard the USS Lake Champlain.

Ivan worked for the IRS and Travelers Insurance Company before he bought into the Insurance and Real estate business in Altus which became Gregg, Buck and Roberson.

Ivan and his wife Dicy were avid supporters of Oklahoma State University. Ivan served on several committees and boards on the local, district and conference level within the United Methodist Church. He was also active in the community serving in leadership positions with the Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce, Masonic Lodge, and Elks Lodge. In 1979 Evan was elected President of the Oklahoma Independent Insurance Agents Association.

Ivan is preceded in death by his parents Luther an Anna Lou Roberson, his wife Dicy; three brothers; Esco, Ernie and Earl. He is survived by three children; son Ivan, Jr. (Rob) and his wife Chris of Chanhassen, Minnesota; daughter Carol and her husband Harold Wright of Weatherford, Oklahoma; son Martin and wife Linda of Tulsa, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren living in Texas, Oklahoma, and Minnesota; three sisters-in-law; Gladys Foreman and her husband rusty of Altus, Dorris Smart of Wichita Fall, Texas and Royleen Wells and her husband Charles of Oklahoma City; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at First United Methodist church in Altus on Thursday at 10:00 with interment following at Restlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

There will also be a Memorial Service at the Brill Chapel at Epworth Villa retirement Community in Oklahoma City at 10:00 on Friday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to First United Methodist Church in Altus or the Oklahoma State University Foundation.
