Obituary for J. L. Loftis
J. L. Loftis, age 69, of Lone Wolf, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, February 24th, 2000 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. He was born on July 29, 1930 in Altus, Oklahoma, to Leo and Maudie (Russell) Loftis. On August 12, 1959, in Baumholder, Germany, J. L. and Irmgard Plasa were united in marriage.

He attended Altus Public Schools and graduated from Altus High School in 1949. Following his graduation, he began his military career with the United States Army where he served twenty years active duty and three years with the Oklahoma National Guard. J.L. served during the Korean Conflict in the 45th Division and was named Soldier of the Month in May 1959. During his career, J.L. was awarded

The Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service in the Republic of Vietnam. As a Master Tank Runner, he was awarded the Order of the Lion for proficiency
