Obituary for Jack Draper
Jack Draper, age 87, a long-time resident of Blair, passed away Sunday, October 5, 2008 in Altus.
Jack was born in reed, Oklahoma on February 21, 1921 to Robert Lee and Bertha Irene (McAlister) Draper. In 1942 he joined the United States Navy and on November 9, 1943 he married Ethel Louise Craig in Vallejo, California and they were married for over 57 years before Ethel passed away in 2000. After receiving a honorable discharge from the Navy, Jack worked as a painter for the Civil Service for 27 years in Garden Grove, California and then moved back home to Blair. He enjoyed gardening, working with his pecan trees and farming, and he loved dancing and going to local musicals. Jack really enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and his grandkids, especially his 11 great-granddaughters. Jack loved his church and his family and he will be missed very much.
Preceded in death by his wife Ethel; one son Ken Draper; one brother, Thomas Draper; and one sister, Bessie Brewster; Jack is survived by two daughters, Vicki Witter of Blair; Janet Ferguson and her husband John of Altus; six grandchildren, Steven Witter of Blair; Robert Draper and his wife Julie of California; John Draper and his wife Karen of Blair; Brian Draper of California; Aaron Ferguson and his wife Beth of Altus; Aimee Ferguson of Altus; eleven great-granddaughters, Brenna, Amanda, Alysa, Cassadi, Sara, Brooke, Cherish, Kadee, Emma, Hanna, Kayla; and numerous other relatives and many friends.
Services for Jack Draper will be on Thursday, October 9, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Blair with reverend Geroge Lupton officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
