Jackie Hodge Carver, age 89, formerly of Granite, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, August 8, 2019 at the Elkwood Assisted Living Center in Elk City, Oklahoma.
Jackie Hodge was born January 4, 1930 to James A and Georgia Ann Hodge in Willow, Oklahoma.
When she was three years old the family moved into the Lake Creek Community where Jackie grew up and attended Lake Creek School grades First grade thru twelfth grade. She graduated from Lake Creek High School in May 1948. In June of 1948 Jackie along with her parents and sister, Johnnie moved to Granite, Oklahoma where Jackie resided until May 2001.
While growing up at Lake creek the family attended Lake Creek Baptist Church where Jackie accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in August 1944. Jackie moved her Church membership to the First Baptist Church of Granite where she worked in the nursery, taught Preschool Sunbeams and served as Organist for forty years.
Jackie worked on main street in Granite for forty-eight and half years before retiring in 1996, she worked for Austin's Dry Goods Store, First National Bank, later Bank of Granite, and Farmers Insurance Group. On May 25, 2001 Jackie married Thurman L. Carver in Gilmer, Texas. Thurman grew up in Granite the son of Henry and Belle Carver. Thurman passed away December 1, 2015. In January of 2016 Jackie moved into Elkwood Assisted Living in Elk City, Oklahoma, where she made many new friends and reconnected with some old friends.
Jackie was preceded in death by her husband Thurman L. Carver, ; Father, James A. Hodge; Mother Georgia Ann Hodge, three brothers Hayden, Remmel and Virgil, two sisters, Estalee Hodge Barnes and Johnnie Hodge, a brother in law Boyce L. Barnes, sister in law, Beulah Smith Hodge, and a nephew Teddy Ray Hodge.
Left to honor Jackie's memories are her two nephews; Kenneth Hodge, and David G. Barnes and his wife Connie, three nieces Elizabeth Ann Martin, Sharon K. Harbeson and her husband Jim, and Janice Hodge, several special great nephews and nieces and also great- great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Sunday, August 11, 2019 and 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., Monday, August 12, 2019 at Greer Funeral Home, Granite, Oklahoma. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. - 7 :00 p.m. Monday, August 12 at Greer Funeral Home, Granite, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at the First Baptist Church of Granite. Graveside services will follow at Willow Cemetery, Willow, Oklahoma.
