Obituary for James Burnell Hynum
J. B. Hynum, age 75, of Eldorado, died Wednesday, June 7th, 1989, at the Presbyterian Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, following a lengthy illness. Graveside services with Full Military Honors will be held Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. at the Eldorado Cemetery officiated by The Reverend Kenneth Coleman, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Eldorado. Funeral arrangements are with the Lowell Funeral Home.

Born June 3rd, 1914, Hynum grew up in Louisiana and Mississippi. As a young man he worked for the local newspaper. After WWII and his retirement from the Navy in 1954, he went back with his wife Jackie to the newspaper business. His first edition of the Eldorado Courier was November 1, 1955. Last month J.B. and Jackie stepped down as editor and publishers of The Eldorado Courier and the Olustee Chieftain because of poor health after completing 33 years of service to those communities.

Survivors include: his wife, Jackie Hynum of the home; one step-daughter, Alberta Evans of Reno, NV; three brothers, Burt Hynum of Grants Pass, OR; Frank Hynum of Texas and Arthur
Ray Hynum of National City, CA; one sister, Elsie Holt of Escondido, CA.
