James Henry Caton, a former resident of Mangum, Oklahoma, passed away on April 5, 2024, at Willow Park Healthcare Center in Lawton, Oklahoma. Born on May 1, 1930, in Detroit, Texas, to James Canton Senior and Alley Canton, James Henry Canton Junior brought joy to his parents from the moment of his birth.
An avid fan of Dr Pepper, a drink he associated with his hometown, James was rarely seen without a can in hand. Known for his kindness and selflessness, he always prioritized the needs of others above his own. Above all else, James cherished spending time with his family.
In 2017, James relocated to Lawton, Oklahoma, to be closer to his daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a man of faith, finding solace in his relationship with Jesus Christ and attending various churches in the Mangum area. James leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents a brother, and his son Milton Caton. . James is survived by his children: James Caton,III, Thelma Thompson, Yuller Walker, Angela Richardson, Cynthia Caton, Wilton Caton, and Michael McDougle; ten grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
The Caton family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at Lowell - Tims Funeral Home, Altus, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at Lowell - Tims Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery, Mangum, Oklahoma.
Funeral services have been entrusted to Lowell - Tims Funeral Home, and Crematory, Altus, Oklahoma.
