Obituary for James Lee Tiernan
James Lee Tiernan, 70, passed away Monday, March 16, 2009, at his home in Altus. He was born September 25, 1938 in Potsdam, NY to William Mark and Iola Thystle (Clarke) Tiernan. He retired from the Department of Corrections for the State of Hawaii after many years of service. He moved to Altus in 2001 to be close to his daughter.
James loved model railroading. He was always working to improve his set up. He was a quite man but was always thinking. Every day when his daughter would go to the house, he would greet her with a new idea he had come up with.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, James Robert; and one sister, Judy.
He is lovingly survived by his daughter, Wendy Mills of Altus; a granddaughter, Starla Mills of Altus; a grandson, James Michael Tiernan of Lawton, Ok; and by three sisters, Linda Harriman and Janice Monroe both of Norfork, NY and Sandra Faye of Messena, NY.
The family will arrange a private memorial service at a later date.
