Obituary for James McGrady Russell
James McGrady Russell, age 87, passed away last night at the Norman Municipal Hospital in Norman, Oklahoma.

Graveside services have been set for Monday, February 13, 1984, at the Altus City Cemetery. Honors by Altus American Legion, Post #44.

Mr. Russell was born January 15th, 1897. He was a Veteran of WWI and a long time Altus businessman and civic leader. He owned and operated Russell Jewelry Store and served on the Board of Education for many years. After retiring in 1951, he and his wife Della moved to Utah where they operated a motel for the next 10 years. In 1961 they moved back to Oklahoma. Grady was an avid sportsman and known as a happy man who brought joy to those he touched. He was an active member of many service organizations and clubs to include the American Legion, Elks Club, Kiwanis and Odd Fellows.

He is survived by: his wife, Della of the home in Ft. Cobb; one son, Dr. L.E. Russell of Weatherford; two daughters, Carrifae Mount of Norman, OK and Vivian Anderson of New Braunfels, TX; seven grandchildren, one of which is Dr. Frank Russell of Altus, OK; eleven great-grandchildren; many other family associates and friends.

Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell Funeral Home.
