Obituary for James O. Cantrell
James O. Cantrell, age 85, was born April 21, 1909, in Athens, Texas , the son of the late James Wiley and Vinnie Alvie (Jones) Cantrell. Mr. Cantrell passed away Sunday, December 4th, 1994, in the Jackson County Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 7, 1994, in the First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Carl McCoy and Rev. Richard Ventonis officiating. Burial will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home.
On September 16, 1928, he and Beatrice Shaver were united in marriage at Brownsboro, TX. Mrs. Cantrell preceded him in death, May 30, 1976. He later married Bonnie Whitehead on January 24, 1978, in Vernon, Texas. He was a retired Farmer; and a member of the First Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Bonnie Cantrell of the home; five children, Joe M. Cantrell and wife Lela of Security, CO, James S. Cantrell and wife Edith of Bethany, OK, Joyce Ann Haley and husband Keith of Oklahoma City, OK, Betty Briscoe and husband Jim of Elmer, OK and Barbara Goldie and husband Alan of Redlands, CA; one brother, J.W. Cantrell, Jr.; two sisters, Lorene Humphrey of Mesquite, TX and Louise Wallace of Victoria, TX; eleven grandchildren, Sharon Kercher of Denver, CO, Valerie Steward of Klawock, AK, James R. "Randy" Cantrell of Tulsa, OK, Richard D. Cantrell of Rowlett, TX, Ryan and Erica Haley of Oklahoma City, OK, Alana Marietta of Newark, OH, Cathi Gooden of Newark, OH, Lance Goldie of Redlands, CA, Jima Beach of Altus, Oklahoma and Jimmie D. Briscoe of Altus, OK; 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; first wife, Beatrice "Shaver" - 1976; three brothers.
