Obituary for James Phinis Lee
James Phinis Lee, 81 passed away June 22, 2003 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, June 24, from 5-7pm at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:00 am June 25, 2003 at the Lowell-Tims Chapel. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery.

Phinis was born May 25, 1922 to Charles "Sam" Elsie Lee and Alpha Omega (Cox) Lee. He was a lifelong resident of Jackson County. During WWII, Phinis served his country in the Navy where he was wounded. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Phinis was loving called a "character" who always had a sunny story to tell. He was a tough man and hard on himself most of all, but he had a kind and generous heart and was known for helping others.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Desta Lee Hardwicke. He is survived by his daughters; Kathie Lee of Phoenix, Arizona and he r son Erik, Shandra Tuggle, of Wichita Falls, Texas and her children, Shahna and Sejin, and Vicki McClain of Edmond, Oklahoma and her sons, Jason and Matthew and by his aunt and uncle, Grover and Martha Cox of Fort Worth, Texas. He was much loved and will be greatly missed.
