Obituary for James Ray Busby
James Ray Busby, 69, passed away at his home on Thursday, November 15, 2012.
James was born May 27, 1943, in Idabel, Oklahoma, to Dewey and Lula Mae (White) Busby. He and his family moved to Altus when he was very young. James worked in construction and farm labor, and later worked the Altus Cotton Compress where he was the floor foreman for many years before his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, bingo, and spending time with family and friends.
He married Judy Mahoney on March 29, 1968. They had three daughters, Joanna, Jessica, and Sherri Lynn.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Lula Busby; James and Judy's daughter, Sherri Lynn; two brothers, Dewey, Jr. and George Busby; and an infant sister, Mozel. He was also preceded in death by a niece, Donna Gail, and two nephews, Scooter and Randy.
James is survived by two daughters Joanna Fountain and husband Bill of Burkburnett, Texas, and Jessica Busby of Blair; three grandsons, Justin Fountain and wife Emily, Brandon Fountain, and Caleb Fountain, all of Burkburnett; four granddaughters, Tiffany Fountain of Burkburnett, Ashley Rosalez and husband Steven, Haley Busby, and Breanna Busby, all of Blair; two great-grandchildren, Matthew Fountain and Ivan Rosalez; two brothers, Jesse Busby and wife Mary Ruth of Altus, and Melvin Busby of Pampa, Texas; one sister, Carolyn Jones of Arkansas; two step-children, Chester and Nita; and many nieces, nephews, and numerous friends. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Memorial Services for James Busby will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 19, 2012, at Lowell-Tims Chapel with Lt. Joseph Price of the Salvation Army officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
