Obituary for James Ray Scalf
James Ray Scalf age 23, of Altus, Oklahoma died in Viet Nam April 19, 1967. He was born to H. M. and Clara (Peek) Scalf April 17, 1944 in Olustee, Oklahoma. James had been a resident of southwest Oklahoma, working at United Super Market before joining the Navy. He graduated from Southside School, where he played basketball and baseball.
Funeral services for James Ray Scalf are scheduled for Thursday, April 27, 1967 at 10:00 am at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Altus, officiated by Rev. Troy Chapman. Burial will follow in the American Legion Cemetery, under the direction of Tims Funeral Home.
James Ray Scalf is survived by his wife Barbara of Headrick, Oklahoma; five brothers, William Lee, Scalf, Altus, Oklahoma; Floyd Wayne Scalf, Fresno, California; Haskell Scalf, Altus, Oklahoma; Gerald Scalf, Frederick, Oklahoma; Wayland Scalf, Elmer, Oklahoma; three sisters, Bonnie Faye Parsley, Altus, Oklahoma; Cora Smith, Tiline, Kentucky; Lahonda Scalf, Elmer, Oklahoma; mother Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Scalf, Elmer, Oklahoma; grandfather, Bob Peek, Altus, Oklahoma.
