BRIDGES

J.W. Bridges, age 86, of Eldorado, passed away late Thursday evening, September 17, 2015, at his residence, in Eldorado.

Mr. Bridges was born on the family farm, in Harmon County, Oklahoma, on July 2, 1929, to Thomas David and Lillian Allie (Darter) Bridges. Living near the Westview Community, the family moved south of Hollis, in 1949. On May 27, 1950, he married the love of his life, Verma Joyce Humphreys, and they spent the next sixty-five wonderful years together until his death. From March of 1952 until February 1954, J.W. proudly served his country in the United States Army. After his discharge, he and Verma made their home in Eldorado until his death. In 1951, the family began a custom harvesting business and continued traveling until 2005. After 2005, they cut crops around Eldorado until 2013. Through the years, J.W. had a trucking business that he maintained until his health began to fail. A member of the Church of Christ, J.W. was a hard worker who loved his family, especially his grandchildren. No matter the grandchildren"s need, J.W. was there to love and care for them and see that their every need was met.

Preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Juanita; a son, Larry James Bridges; one granddaughter, Robin Kay Bridges and a daughter-in-law, Jo Bridges, he is survived by his wife, Verma, of the home; two sons, Jerry Bridges of Clyde, Texas and Don Bridges and wife Lana of Eldorado; five grandchildren, Tracy Foller, Tonya Huntley, Michael Bridges, Landon Bridges and Kaylor Bridges; three great grandchildren, Jordan Foller, Jadyn Huntley and Tucker Huntley; one great-great granddaughter, Piper Jo Tobey; one brother, David Bridges and wife Judy of Lubbock; two sisters, Faunett Coward and husband Doyal of Eldorado and Lynette Haws and husband Wayne of Choctaw, Oklahoma along with many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for J.W. Bridges will at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, September 20, 2015, at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel, in Eldorado, with Jerry Don Henry officiating.
