Obituary for Jeffrey Collins Taylor
Jeffrey Collins Taylor, a resident of Blair, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of fifty-seven.
Jeffrey was born on March 19, 1968, in Denver, Colorado, to Mark Whitney and Suzanne (Lofton) Taylor. At an early age, he and his family moved to Wichita Falls, Texas, before settling in Altus, Oklahoma. He grew up in Altus and graduated from Altus High School in 1986. He then attended Western Oklahoma State College and Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, graduating in 1992.
Jeffrey worked at Union Square Federal Credit Union in Wichita Falls and Bates Auto in Altus before beginning his career as a truck driver for Best Oil. He later spent many years as a heavy equipment operator for Altus Sand and Gravel and worked for Republic Gypsum until his health declined.
A laid-back man who enjoyed life's simple pleasures, Jeffrey loved telling stories from his youth, sharing tales of his many adventures. He had a quick wit and always had a funny joke ready, delighting in the laughter of those around him. An avid rock music fan, he especially loved Kid Rock. He also took great pride in training and raising game fowl.
Jeffrey was a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan and proudly supported Oklahoma State University, where his daughter attended college. Even in the toughest times, his strength and resilience shone through. Over the past year, he faced cancer with unwavering courage, maintaining a positive attitude and expressing deep gratitude for those who stood by him. His mother, Suzanne, was a constant presence, accompanying him to countless doctor's appointments. She often remarked on his bravery, patience, and determination to fight until the very end.
Despite his illness, Jeffrey remained steadfast in his responsibilities. Even during the harsh winter months, he made sure to feed hay to his late father's cattle-a testament to his quiet dedication. Though a man of few words, he had a calming presence, often serving as the "calm in the storm" for those around him. His kindness, resilience, and dry sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; his father, Mark Taylor; his sister, Kim Rhoten; his nephew, Charles Dalton Taylor; and his parents' beloved dog, Thunder, whom he adored.
Jeffrey is survived by his daughter, Kelly Collins Taylor; his son, Cubb Collins Taylor; his mother, Suzanne Taylor; two brothers, Charles Taylor and Kyle Taylor (and wife Wendy); two aunts, Danalee Lofton and Charm Cansler; a nephew, Jesse Cole Taylor; and a host of dear friends.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the care and direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory in Altus, Oklahoma.
