Obituary for Jerry l. Stowe
Jerry La Rue Stowe led a remarkable life filled with diverse experiences and accomplishments. Born in Brinkman, Oklahoma, in October 30, 1934, he cherished his roots in Greer County, often reminiscing about his upbringing on farms there. His journey took him from serving in the U.S. Army, where he excelled in Military Intelligence, to earning a degree from Oklahoma State University as a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honors Society.
Jerry's professional career was equally impressive, beginning with General Electric and transitioning to the oil and gas industry, where he held senior management roles at companies like Amoco (now BP), Champion Petroleum, and Aminoil in Houston. His expertise in computer and accounting systems made him a valuable leader in the field. After retiring, he continued to serve his community as the city manager of Mangum, Oklahoma, from 1987 to 1988.
A man of integrity, Jerry was known for his commitment to helping others and his unwavering principles. Despite his professional success, he remained grounded, often expressing his love for the simple life-his horse, his gun, and his dog. He was a mentor to many and maintained an active presence on social media, sharing his wisdom and experiences until his passing.
Jerry passed away on February 21, 2025 surrounded by his family at Sacred Heart Hospital in Miramar Beach, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlos and Grace Stowe; his former wife, Mary Ann; and his sisters, Lorene and Joann. He is survived by his son, Chris Stowe; daughter, Carey Pribil; grandchildren, David, Jon, and Bonnie Stowe; and great-grandchildren, Murphy and Knightley.
Jerry's legacy is one of resilience, kindness, and a deep connection to his roots. He will be remembered as a devoted family man, a respected professional, and a true country boy at heart.
