Jewell Grady Jordan, Jr. "Joe", age 81, longtime resident of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, September 14, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.
Joe was born in Brookhaven, Mississippi on February 8, 1936 to his parents Jewell Grady Jordan, Sr. and Geneva Grace (Watts) Jordan. Joe grew up in Brookhaven, Mississippi and graduated from Brookhaven High School. He served his country in the United States Army National Guard. He attended Copiah-Lincoln Junior College and went on to receive his Bachelor"s Degree from Mississippi College in Clinton, Mississippi. Joe taught high school and coached football and also taught and coached at the Southwest Junior College in Summit, Mississippi. On December 22, 1956, he married the love of his life Patsy Smith in Beauregard, Mississippi and they have enjoyed almost 60 years of marriage together. Joe went to work for the Kellwood Company as a Plant Manager where he managed plants in Altus, Mississippi, Haiti, and Honduras until he retired after more than 30 years with the company. Joe was a member of the First Baptist Church in Altus. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and spending time at his cabin in Mississippi. Joe loved his family and treasured time spent with them, especially his grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents and his son, Jay Jordan; Joe is survived by his wife Patsy Jordan of the home; his son, Tim Jordan and wife Connie of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; his daughters, Jodi Sorrels and husband Jay of Forest, Mississippi; and Jill Fayak and husband Brian of Norman, Oklahoma; daughter-in-law, Angie Marple and husband Kevin of Altus; three sisters, Elsie Smith; Betty Moody; and Barbara Smith all of Brookhaven, Mississippi; eleven grandchildren, Stacey Jordan and Alyssa Jordan; Chelsea Frith; Jordan Fayak, Graci Fayak, and Michael Fayak; Chad Jordan, Brady Marple, Abby Marple, Tyler Marple, and Tanner Marple; as well as nieces and nephews, other family members and many friends.
The family will greet friends at visitation from 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., Friday, September 15, 2017 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in Altus.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Altus with Dr. Jeff Moore officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory, Altus, Oklahoma.
