Obituary for Joe Hugh Allen
Joe Hugh Allen, 93, longtime Altus resident passed away Wednesday, February 8, 1995 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Services have been scheduled for 11am Saturday in the Lowell-Tims Chapel with Rev. Keith Wiginton and Rev. David Chittenden officiating. Burial will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. Mr. Allen was born January 29, 1902 in Decatur, Texas to Eddie R. and Lou "Clancy" Allen. He moved to the Altus area as a young child. He married Symathie Phillips January 19, 1921 in Altus, she preceded him in death in 1973. Mr. Allen operated a Barber Shop from 1924 until his retirement in the late 1970"a. He was a long time member of the First Baptist Church.

Joe is survived by his children; Jack Allen and wife Leona of Altus, Oklahoma; DeEsta Graves and husband Jack of Altus, Oklahoma; brothers, Marvin Allen of Altus, Oklahoma; Floyd Allen of Richardson, Texas; Lloyd Allen of New Mexico; 9 grandchildren, Johnnie Joe Jones, David Jones, Kay Thaggard, Roger Allen, Pam Lee, Donnie Lee Jones, Ronnie Lynn Jones, Reggie Allen, Robin Watson; 17 great-grandchildren, 6 great-greatgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Samantha Allen, 1973, 1 daughter, Louise Allen, 2 brothers and 1 sister.
