Obituary for Joey Alan McGee
Joey Alan McGee, 65, Olustee, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital.
Joey was born on April 22, 1960, in Heidelberg, Germany to Alan Roy and Ute (Graab) McGee. He grew up in Olustee and graduated from Olustee High School with the Class of 1978. Joey went on to graduate from Western Oklahoma State College with his associate's degree. After college, he worked for Dale Bilbrey on his farm for several years. Joey married Collette Hamby in Olustee, Oklahoma on May 19, 1984. He worked for American Gypsum in maintenance until he retired in 2023 after 26 years. Joey was a member of the Red River Cowboy Church in Mangum. He enjoyed fishing and working in his workshop. His greatest treasures were his kids and grandkids and the time they shared making memories.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alan Roy McGee; his mother, Ute Smith; a brother, Johnny Lee McGee; his grandparents, Granny Gee and Roy Shine McGee; and an uncle, Clay Lynn Moreau.
Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Collette, of the home; a son, Brandon McGee and fiancée, Haley Ballew; his daughter, Briana Billingsley and husband, Josh; five grandchildren, Braelyn, Lenox, Tracker, Sawyer, and Stella; a brother, Marcus Smith and wife, Christina; two sisters, Sabina Long and husband, Mark, and April McGee; other family members including an aunt, Barbara Moreau, and a cousin, Sandra Townsend; and a host of friends.
The McGee family will host friends at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home from 5:30 - 7:30 PM on Thursday, August 21, 2025. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, August 22, 2025, at the Red River Cowboy Church, Mangum, with Darrell Coffman officiating. Burial will follow in the Hess Cemetery, south of Altus, under the care of the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory.
