Obituary for John Atlas Medlin Jr.
SMSgt (retired USAF) John A. Medlin, 64, passed away at Jackson County Memorial Hospital, Friday, May 9, 2008.
John was born February 27, 1944, in Wilson, North Carolina, to John A. Sr and Alma Ruth Medlin. He married Suzanne Smith May 17,1978, and together they raised four beautiful children.
He served in the United States Air Force for 26 years, 1 month and 1 day. His duties included flight engineer on the C-141, instructor for flight engineers on C-141, as well as a flight-line Superintendent and mechanic. He retired in 1988. He was an avid member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness.
He was a loving husband and wonderful father. His favorite pastime was reading and telling many stories of his childhood.
He is survived by his loving wife, Suzanne, of the home in Altus; three sons, Glenn Leasure of Charleston, South Carolina; Don Leasure and his wife Jenny of Wichita, Kansas; Andy Medlin and his wife Trisha of Ft. Stewart, Georgia; one daughter, Lanee Schindler and her husband Scott of Wichita, Kansas; five grandchildren, Tailor Medlin, Evan Medlin, Bethanie Medlin, Tyler Schindler, Cameron Schindler; one brother, Greg Medlin and wife Lynne of Wilson, North Carolina, and numerous relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one granddaughter, Savannah Schindler.
