Obituary for John Harmon
John R. Harmon was born July 18, 1932 in Cache, Oklahoma. He was the son of the late Henry and Ethel (Moore) Harmon. He died July 2, 1994 in Eldorado, Oklahoma from ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). He married Jean Randolph November 3, 1950 at Quanah, TX. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a longtime resident of Eldorado and Jackson County having resided here since 1946. He was a member of the Eldorado First Baptist Church. He was in the retail business from 1957-1989. He was the manager of the Puckett Food Store, Gibson Discount Center in Altus and the Altus & Lawton Surplus City. He had also been associated with Fox Insurance Salvage in Ada, OK. He had also served on the Altus City Council for four years.

Services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Eldorado First Baptist Church with Rev. Mitch Whittington officiating. Interment will be in the Eldorado Cemetery under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home. Memorials may be made in honor of John R. Harmon to the Eldorado Historical Society.

Survivors include: his wife, Jean Harmon of the home in Eldorado, Oklahoma; two children, Kathy Black and husband Derrell of Canadian, TX and David Harmon and wife Stephanie of Ada, OK; two brothers, Travis Harmon of Lawton, OK and Jack Harmon of Cache, Oklahoma; two sisters, Betty Cunningham of Electra, TX and Mildred Harmon of Arizona; three grandchildren, Heather Hartman, Justin and Isaiah Harmon.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; three brothers; two sisters.
