Obituary for John Herman Steen
John Herman Steen, age 76, of Eldorado, was born February 8th, 1918 in Hess, OK, the son of Theodore H. Hall and Ella Mae (Blaci) Steen. Herman was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army. He was Honorably Discharged as a Technical Sergeant having served with the 348th Medical Composite Section. He received the EAME Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Ribbon and the American Theater Ribbon. In May of 1994, he received a Commendation Medal for his unselfish contribution to the liberation of Europe during WWII, from the Rear Admiral of the United States Coast Guard. Herman was a former employee of the Cotton Oil Mill in Quanah, Texas. He served as a night watchman for the City of Eldorado and was a longtime Cowboy in Jackson County.

Funeral Services have been scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 3, 1994, in the Lowell Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Osborne officiating. Burial will follow in the Veterans Section in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home.

Survivors include: a daughter, Sandra Lavery and husband Harry of Liverpool, England; two sisters, Dorotha Lovett and Lillian Brunson, both of Altus, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Richard, Nicola and Karl Lavery of Liverpool, England.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; three sisters and one brother.
