Obituary for John L Wallace
John L. Wallace, 71, long time resident of Mangum, Oklahoma passed away July 20, 2021 at Mangum Regional Medical Center.
John was born February 28, 1950 in Tishamingo, Oklahoma to the late William Wallace and Lily (Yendles) Wallace. He was the youngest of eighteen children in the Wallace household. At the age of five John began working in farming, with his parents and siblings. The family would spend their summers working in Willow, Oklahoma then return to Tishamingo, Oklahoma in the winter. John spent his life working on farms around South West Oklahoma. He hauled hay for most of the farmers in the area. Through hard work and dedication he developed a reputation as a hard working farm hand. On September 25, 1989 in Mangum, Oklahoma John married Cherie (Bryan) Wallace. John was a member of The Lighthouse Church. He enjoyed playing pool, playing cards, shooting dice, hunting, fishing but most of all he enjoyed spending time with family.
John was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lily (Yendles) Wallace, and eight siblings.
Left to honor John's memory are his loving wife, Cherie Wallace; sons, David Wallace, Joseph Harden and wife Amanda, John D. Wallace and wife Tiffany; daughter, Charity Meunier; brothers, Frank Wallace, Roy Wallace, Jessy Wallace; Sister, Ruby Arles, Cousin, Gene Wallace (that John treated as a brother) grandchildren, Ross Meunier, Renee Meunier, Faith Wallace, Gabriel Wallace, Jaclyn Payne, Weston Wallace and Sara Wynn Harden, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 24, 2021 at The Lighthouse Church, Mangum, Oklahoma.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Greer Funeral Home, Mangum, Oklahoma.
