John Nelson age 73, of Mangum, Oklahoma was born May 31, 1922, in Mangum, the son of the late John Calhoun and Cleo Self Nelson. He was a longtime Greer County resident , graduating from Mangum High School in 1939. Mr. nelson passed away Friday, August 4, 1995, in the Jackson County Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. There will be no services. Mr. Nelson's body has been given for anatomical study. John was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army. In 1949, he and Mildred Koch were united in marriage in Japan.
Survivors include his wife Mildred Nelson of the home in Mangum, children; John David Nelson of Florida; sister, Nancy Phillips of Mangum, Oklahoma; three granddaughters Kristi and Starla Nelson of Florida, and Alesha Nelson of Lawton, Oklahoma; and a host of nieces and nephews.
