Obituary for John R. Harrod
John R. Harrod, age 86, passed away Thursday, December 8th, 1994 in the Jackson County Memorial Hospital, after a lengthy illness.
John was born August 17th, 1908 in Newton, Mississippi, the son of the late Thomas and Fannie Harrod. He was a longtime Altus resident.
On November 26, 1928, he and Hazel Mae Kelley were united in marriage at Wichita Falls, TX. He was a retired carpenter/harvester. He was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church.
Mr. Harrod was preceded in death by: his parents; a great-grandson, Blake Anthony Harrod; two sisters, Jeanette Warden and Lilley Harrod; two brothers, Thomas Walton Harrod and Infant Harrod.
He is survived by: Hazel, his wife of 66 years; five sons and four daughters-in-law, Richard and Betty Harrod of Allen, OK, Joe and Deloris Harrod of Springfield, IL, Willie and Betty Harrod of Claremore, OK, Willis and Betty Harrod of Stockton, CA and Don Harrod of Altus, OK; one brother, Robert Harrod of Blair, OK; three sisters, Nellie Thomas of Sulphur Springs, TX, Alice Penland of Pickton, TX and Ruth Padgett of Mesquite, TX; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
