Obituary for John Wesley Slate
John Wesley Slate, age 57, passed away November 9th, 2002 at Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
Mr. Slate was born on June 28th, 1945, in Chicago Heights, Illinois to Wesley and Josephine (Scott) Slate. Most of his life was spent in Chicago Heights, until his move to Altus, Oklahoma in February 2002. John worked as a Nursing Assistant and was a licensed Paramedic. He worked for Grace Living Center after coming to Altus.
John was a fun-loving man who had a great love for his eight children. He leaves to mourn, his children, John, Vernon Jean, Wesley, Jeremie, Tyjoran, Ashley, Kendra and Jontonoi; a very special friend, Toneisha and her daughter, Z'kyra of the home in Altus; two sisters, Gertrude Slate and Joanne Slate of Chicago Heights, IL; and a host of other relatives and friends.
