Johnnie May Powell was born in Arkansas November 15th, 1918 to Zack McElmore and Willie B. McCoy McElmore. She died November 16th, 1967 at the age of 49. She was married to H. B. Powell who survives her along with two sons; Tommy Lee Johnson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Lee Charles Johnson of Los Angeles, California, two daughters, Ruth Thelma Powell of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Mary Henderson of Texarkansas, Arkansas. Also surviving are twenty five grandchildren, her mother, Willie B. Phillips of Altus, Oklahoma, One sister, Alvana Johnson and a brother Jessie McElmore..

Services for Johnnie May Powell are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 21, 1967 at the Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. A. C. Carson officiating. Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Tims Funeral Home.
