After a life filled with faith, love, and service to the Lord, Jose Moreno Gonzalez was welcomed
into the kingdom of Heaven on August 30, 2024. Jose was born March 19, 1938, in Santa
Rosalia de Camargo Chihuahua, Mexico, to Francisco Moreno and Maria Del Refugio Gonzalez
Ortega. As a young man, Jose enjoyed fishing and playing sports, and he often sold his daily
catch to local restaurants, he also played baseball for many years in the Mexican minor league.
Having learned the value of hard work from his father, Jose became a licensed plumber and
electrician, and spent two years serving honorably in the Mexican Army. Upon completion of his
military service, Jose met and married the love of his life, Maria de la Luz. Together, they moved
to the United States and started a family while Jose used his skills to build their home. Jose
found joy in attending auctions, markets, and secondhand sales in search of goods that he
resold as another means to providing for his family. While in Altus, Oklahoma, Jose renovated
nearly a dozen homes and lived in them with his family. He used these homes to teach his
children the value of hard work just as his father had taught him. Jose entered the ministry with
the Spanish Assembly of God pastoring his first church in Hobart, Oklahoma. For over five
decades, Jose and his wife served the Lord in ministry. They attended Templo Sinai Spanish
Assembly of God in Altus, Oklahoma, having served as pastors and dedicated members. Jose
also ministered and supported numerous churches throughout Oklahoma and North Texas until
2023.
Jose is preceded in death by his wife of sixty-one years, Maria de la Luz, who has awaited his
arrival in Heaven since 2021. He is survived by his second wife, Socorro Moreno; brothers:
Frank, Fernando, Carlos and Ismael; sisters: Maria Inez, Genoveva, Magdalena, Socorro and

Maria Alicia. Jose is also survived by six children, fifteen grandchildren, twenty-one great-
grandchildren: Jose Martin and Noemi Espinoza of Colorado Springs, CO, Freddrick and Abigail

Bass and children, Freddrick Jr., Quinn Noemi, and Brooklynn of Sebastian, FL., Justin and
Alizabeth Nathaniel and children, Mia, Milez, and Kobe of Vero Beach, FL. Jim and Alma Colvin
of Houston, TX, Austin and Peri Landin and children, Madelyn and Laney of San Angelo, TX.
Brad and Megan Stehle and children, Gunner, Kannon, Landin, and Remi of Schertz, TX. Sean
and Hannah Flippo and children, Liam, Clayton, and Eliza of Las Vegas, NV., Joshua and Sarah
Martinez and children, Scotlyn, Sloan, and Jameson of Fairbanks, AK, and Noah Colvin of
Richmond, TX. Dennie and Susan Johnson of Snyder, TX, Children Tyler Johnson of Houston,
TX, and Caleb Johnson of Laramie, WY. Joe and Mary Jane Moreno of Eaton, CO, Billy and
Jennifer Reyez and children Regan, Brooklyn, and Camden of Grand Junction, CO, Brandon
Reyez of Greeley, CO, Jeremiah Moreno and children Haley and Aubrey of Gilbert, AZ. Manuel
and Cristy Moreno and son Peyton of Oklahoma City, OK, Moses and Lori Moreno and children
Tobyn and Amanda of Oklahoma City, OK.
Funeral service and celebration of life in honor of Jose Moreno will be held on September 14,
2024, at 10:00 am followed by a graveside service at Altus City Cemetery.

Después de una vida llena de fe, amor y servicio al Señor, José Moreno González fue recibido
en el reino de los cielos el 30 de agosto de 2024. José nació el 19 de marzo de 1938 en Santa
Rosalía de Camargo, Chihuahua, México, hijo de Francisco Moreno y María Del Refugio
González Ortega. De joven, José le gustaba pescar y practicar deportes, y vendía su pesca
diaria a restaurantes locales mientras también jugaba béisbol durante muchos años en la liga
menor mexicana. Habiendo aprendido el valor del trabajo duro de su padre, José se convirtió
en plomero y electricista con licencia y pasó dos años sirviendo honorablemente en el ejército
mexicano. Al finalizar su servicio militar, José conoció y se casó con el amor de su vida, María
de la Luz. Juntos, se mudaron a los Estados Unidos y formaron una familia mientras José
usaba sus habilidades para construir su casa. José encontró alegría en asistir a subastas,
mercados y ventas de segunda mano en busca de bienes que revendería como otro medio
para mantener a su familia. Mientras estaba en Altus, Oklahoma, José renovó casi una docena
de casas y vivió en ellas con su familia. José utilizó estos hogares para enseñar a sus hijos el
valor del trabajo duro, tal como su padre le había enseñado a él. José entró al ministerio con la
Asamblea de Dios, pastoreando su primera iglesia en Hobart, Oklahoma. Durante más de cinco
décadas, José y su esposa sirvieron al Señor en el ministerio. Asistieron a la Asamblea de Dios

Landin e hijos, Madelyn y Laney de San Angelo, TX. Brad y Megan Stehle e hijos, Gunner,

El funeral y la celebración de la vida en honor a José Moreno se llevarán a cabo el 14 de
