Juan "John" Linares, age 69 of Altus, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2017 at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
John was born in Mexico on February 9, 1948 to his parents Alfonso Linares and Raquel (Guevara) Linares. He grew up in Martha, Oklahoma and graduated from Martha High School in 1966. He continued his education at Altus Junior College and graduated with a Bachelors in Education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford. He married the love of his life Mary Ann (Jimenez) on August 14, 1971 at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Altus and they enjoyed over 45 years. John worked at the Altus Laundry and Cleaners for Forrest Fox since 1974 and he retired from the Clinton Laundry and Cleaners in 2016. John enjoyed fishing and he coached baseball at the Altus Recreation for over 30 years. He was an Altus Bulldog supporter and an avid OU fan. But above all else his church and family were most important to him and John will be missed.
Preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Margarita Pettus; and brother-in-law, Alfredo Chavarria; John is survived by his wife Mary Ann Linares of the home; three sons, Alex Linares and wife Carrie; Alfonso Linares and wife Brenda; Leo Linares and girlfriend Farrah Burgess; one sister, Petra Chavarria; brother-in-law, Jim Pettus; grandchildren, Lucas, Juilana, and Ariana; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, other family members and many friends.
Rosary services will be at 6:00 pm, Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Lowell-Tim Funeral Home in Altus.
The Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am, Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Altus with Father Cory D. Stanley officiating.
Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory, Altus, Oklahoma.
