Obituary for Juan Pablo Chavarria, Sr.
Juan Pablo Chavarria, Sr., 56, of Altus, passed away Wednesday, February 16th, 2011, at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

Juan was born October 22nd, 1954, in Alice, Texas, to Jose Miguel and Juanita (Garcia Ybarra) Chavarria. He graduated Altus High School in 1974. Juan worked at the Altus Air Force Commissary for twenty years and received his twenty year pin on the day of his death. There will be many of his friends and customers at the commissary who will miss him dearly.

Juan loved to go to the casino with his best friend, Pat Rodriguez. They had many stories to tell their families about their adventures. Juan especially loved to tell his grandkids stories and laugh as they wondered if the story was the truth or an exaggeration. Juan enjoyed going to all of his grandchildren's sporting events as they grew up.

He is survived by three children, Jessica Gomez and husband Joe, Juan Pablo Chavarria, Jr., and Jason Chavarria, all of Altus; two brothers, Michael Chavarria and wife Mellee of Austin, Texas, and Carlos Chavarria and wife Amy of Alice, Texas; one sister, Elva Chavarria, also of Alice, Texas; six grandchildren, Dominique, Desirea, Austin, Niccolas, Angel, and Caylee, and a beloved Grandpa to many.

Funeral Services for Juan Chavarria will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 20, 2011, at Lowell-Tims Chapel. Interment will follow at Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
