Obituary for Juanita Contreras
Juanita Contreras, 85, of Altus passed away to be with her Lord, February 21, 2012. Juanita blessed this world with her presence on August 4, 1926 in Aswell, TX to Candelario and Francisca Suniga. She grew up in Texas and lived in various parts of Texas until moving to Oklahoma in the 1960"s. Upon arriving in Oklahoma each of her children shortly followed. She was a woman of courage, determination and dedication to her family. Upon losing her eyesight, she continued to face life with adversity and with her cheery attitude inspired the many people that came to know her. Her courage earned her the respect of her family and those around her. A woman full of love that she so graciously gave to her children, grandchildren , sisters and brother. Her most enjoyable times was spending time with all of those that she so dearly loved while listening to music. Her love for life and those afternoon drives never did cease even after she became ill. A great mother, grandmother, aunt and sister. The most loving person anyone could have known.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Candelario and Francisca Suniga, a brother, Raymundo Suniga, sister-in-law; Esther Suniga, brother-in-laws; Anecimo Vargas and Oscar Garcia. One son-in-law; Prajedis Villarreal, one granddaughter Juanita Inez Alejandre, two great grandsons; Juan Antonio Esquivel and Rolando Ray Olivas, one great granddaughter; Natalie Kali Yuri Tovar and several other family members.
Survivors include her daughter, Santos and husband Oscar Morales, Connie and husband Frank Guzman, Juanita and husband Martin Villegas, all of Altus, Beatrice Rivera of Brighton, CO and one son Antonio Contreras of Tulia, TX. Three sisters, Guadalupe Garcia, Dominga Martinez and husband Rene Martinez of Altus, Guadalupe and Jesus Ramirez, Olustee, OK and Candelaria Vargas of Amarillo, TX. One brother, Daniel Suniga of Altus. 33 grandkids, 88 great grandkids and 17 great great grandkids, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 2:00 pm, Friday, February 24, 2012 in Lowell-Tims Chapel with Pastor Joe Tovar officiating. Interment will follow in the Olustee Cemetery with Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive guests from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Thursday evening at Lowell-Tims.
