Obituary for Juanita Jennnings
Juanita Jennings, 87, passed away Wednesday, November 1, 1995, at the Quartz Mountain Nursing Center. Juanita was born July 14, 1908, in Paris, Texas, to Thomas and Era (Tippet) Archer. Juanita married Russell Jones in 1928 at Hugo, Oklahoma. They moved to Blair in 1936. Russell passed away in 1964. Juanita then moved to Altus. She later married Leon Jennings and he preceded her in death in 1977.
Mrs Jennings worked for the powder Puff on the Downtown Square for 15 years before becoming the owner of the Park Lane beauty Salon, which she owned until her retirement. Juanita was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church, until her health limited her activities. She was also a long time member of the Eastern Star.
Julia was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Russell Jones and Leon Jennings; two grandsons, David Wayne Self and Richard Russell "Rusty" Jones; two sisters, Dexie Ellen and Texie Ann; and one stepson.
She id survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Wanda June and David Self of Altus; two sons, Bobby Lee Jones of Huntington Beach, California and Tommy Dean Jones of Altus; two stepsons, Muarry Jennings of Dumas, Texas and Dois Jennings of Iowa Park, Texas; one brother, Thomas Archer, Jr. of Duke, Oklahoma; one sister, Jean Walker of Stanfield, Arizona; five grandchildren and their spouses, Ricky Self, Kimberly and Jeff Tanner, Wendy Jones, Jeffrey and Cherrie Jones, and Phillip and Becky Jones, three great-grandchildren, Jennifer Self, Jank and Max Tanner, and one granddaughter-in-law, Donna Self.
