Obituary for Judy Conrad
Judy Conrad

Judy May (Wilson)Conrad, 61, returned to the Lord, Sunday, September 3, 2006. Judy was born May 1, 1945, in Altus, Oklahoma, to Cecil Ray Wilson and Bessie Mae Kennemer Wilson. She attended school in Altus, Ardmore, and Guymon, Oklahoma. Judy also attended school in El Segundo, California. Returning to Altus in 1961, Judy met and fell madly in love with Joe Earl Conrad. They married six months later, November 4, 1961, at the First United Methodist Church in Tipton, Oklahoma.

Judy and Joe have owned and operated Joe Conrad Plumbing Company in Altus since 1972. In 1974, they transferred their to the First United Methodist Church in Altus. Judy was a woman of many talents. There wasn't a craft or art form she didn't try, .cooking, sewing, painting, crochet, macrame, ceramics, and many more. Once she knew it and knew it well, she was on to her next adventure in learning. Many area children knew her as Aunt Judy through the home day care she operated from 1973 to 1982. Judy taught a 3rd and 4th grade Sunday school class in the early 80's. Once her children were all in school, she became a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in Altus. She later became postal clerk in Blair, Oklahoma, where she remained until retirement. Her entire family - sisters, children, nieces, nephews, and a whole host of teenagers - will never forget the time they spent with her, staying up all night playing 45 records. Judy taught us all how to dance and that it didn't matter how well we sung (or how badly,) the point was to sing and dance until we felt it deep within our souls. Judy May was a woman full of love who was loved by many.

Welcoming her into the Kingdom were her parents, a sister, Phyllis Allen, and her only son, Thomas Don Conrad. She is survived by her husband, Joe' of the home; three daughters, Tracy Lorah and her husband Jeff of Altus, Tammy Nucci and her husband Robert of Choctaw, Oklahoma, and Jeri Lyn Drury and her husband, Brent, of Olustee; sisters, Gloria Jean Cline and her husband Dayton of Eva, Oklahoma, and Tina Joy Hankins and her husband Joe of Altus; eight grandchildren, Justin Lorah, Brodee Nicci, Joshua Lorah, Braydyn Nucci, Jessica Lorah, Cade Drury, Elijah Drury, and Saylor Grace Drury. She is also survived by much loved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many friends and family.
