Obituary for Jurlene Doris Bevers
Jurlene "Jerri" Doris Bevers went to be with her Lord on February 12, 2024. Jerri was 87 years old and was born October 1, 1936, near Duke, Oklahoma. Her parents were Homer E. Cheatwood and Ima Dee Bradford Cheatwood. She was raised in the Duke and Altus communities where she spent much of her life. She attended school in Altus.
Jerri married and later divorced the late Joe Joy Bevers. They had one daughter and three sons: Carla, Jerry, Mitchell, and Stan. Jerri was employed as a Unit Secretary for Jackson County Memorial Hospital where she later retired after almost thirty years.
After her retirement she enjoyed traveling to Branson, Missouri with Jerry and Mitchell and her grandchildren and to Colorado and New Mexico with Stan and his family. She loved sitting outside, reading, working puzzles, and cooking for family occasions. If anyone visited her home, they could be assured that there were cookies and other homemade treats to snack on. She cherished Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas because these holidays were typically spent together as a family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Ima Dee, a brother Don, a sister Imogene, and two sons Jerry and Mitchell. Jerri leaves a long legacy. She is survived by her daughter, Carla Guthrie of Altus and a son Stan Bevers and his wife Tina of Vernon, Texas. She had five grandchildren, Lee Vier and wife Stephanie of Altus, Amy Morris and husband Ben of Altus, Dana Jo Bevers of Vernon, Texas, Jana Ramirez and husband Jonathan of Portland, Texas, and Kyle Bevers of Carson City, Nevada. She had seven great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren.
