Obituary for Karen Glenelle Sanchez
Karen G. Sanchez, 65, Altus, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at the OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
Karen G. Marple was born on April 7, 1959, in Altus to Dean and Gail (Richardson) Marple. She grew up in Altus and graduated from Altus High School with the Class of 1977. Karen went on to attend Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, attaining her bachelor's degree in computer science. She married Aldo Sanchez on July 9, 1983, in Altus. Karen was a staple at the Altus Board of Education, retiring after 37 years as the Board's clerk. After her retirement, she worked for five years as the church secretary at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Karen and Aldo were faithful members of the Emmanuel Baptist Church for over 35 years. Karen was highly active in her church and taught the 3rd-4th grade girls Sunday School class for 17 years. She was also active with the Altus All Sports Association for several years.
Karen enjoyed playing the piano, crafts, and crocheting. She had an affinity with baking and cooking. The kids and grandkids never went without one of her homemade cakes when it was their birthday. Karen loved her family and cherished the moments spent with them, especially when it was her grandkids.
Her parents, Dean and Gail, and a sister-in-law, Cheryl Marple, preceded her in death.
Those left to honor her memory are her husband of 41 years, Aldo Sanchez, of the home; a son, Tomas Sanchez and his wife, Jessica; a daughter, Juliana Sanchez and partner, Brandon Edwards; four grandchildren, Hannah Edwards, Findley Sanchez, Franklin Sanchez, and Jack Edwards; her brother, Keith Marple; and many more nieces, nephews, other family, and a host of friends.
A come and go celebration of life will be held at the Emmanuel Baptist Church Fellowship Hall on Sunday, November 3, 2024, from 2:00 - 4:00 PM. Arrangements are under the care of the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory.
